About this game

Lapse 2: Before Zero is the official prequel to Lapse: A Forgotten Future. That you are here means, in some way, you were successful in your quest to save the world – or to destroy it. Doesn’t really matter which, since you’re about to travel from a future world into the ancient times. The one who once was President is now Pharaoh, the one who once was a machine is now your most precious ally in the challenge to come.

When you open your eyes, the year is 1750 BC, and the place is ancient Egypt. For some unknown reason, this mysterious land needs your help. Proceed cautiously: what may seem like ruling just another kingdom, may well be the key to the world’s survival.

Lapse 2: Before Zero answers the players’ questions, revealing the mysteries of the first chapter.

Currently supported languages: English, Italian, Russian, Turkish, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Czech, Arabian, Slovak, German, Greek, Finnish and Romanian.

Firstly, this is a fantastic game, and I recommend it indefinitely. Although its core gameplay can seem repetitive at first, the story moments are fantastic and the repeating choices do test your memory a fair bit. One thing I dislike though is that it's extremely easy if you have any common sense to get the best ending on the first playthrough, especially when the 3 different endings all rely on 1 or 2 choices. This discourages replaying it, especially when any missed goals aren't worth it.

PLAY THE FIRST ONE FIRST! There is no significant difference in gameplay and the graphics are the same and all but irrelevant. The story demands you play them in order. It's worth it. Play both, and play for all endings. If you're unsure at first, be advised that when you "die" you don't start again; you've still made progress. Just keep going and you'll see that these games are masterpieces of simplistic gameplay and complex plot lines.

Just as good as the first one. Play it first if you haven't already or this one will just be confusing as hell. It has the same hooks as the original, (good story, plenty of characters and a good progression system). Sadly it also has the same flaws, (the gauges can force certain choices which affect the narrative, plus it can get a bit samey after a while). Overall though I think it's a really good game for someone who has the patience to get through it. I hope there will be a third.
